Loom Room’s shawls are woven in New Zealand on traditional floor looms and are long enough (approximately 200cm) to envelope yourself on a cold afternoon. The weft is hand dyed New Zealand wool and hand spun using blends of colours evocative of our natural environment. The wool used in the hand spun weft comes from sheep living on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Each handspun shawl ends up being a unique colour as different proportions of coloured fleece are carefully mixed in quantities enough for only one throw.

This one-off ‘Forest Fern’ throw has a soft khaki/fern coloured possum/merino warp with the hand spun weft a blend of New Zealand bush greens and golds, with flashes of ripe grapes and guava pinks, blues and purples.
