I regularly get requests for help with setting up a mecchia loom from people who have acquired a second hand one but it came with no instructions. I was lucky enough to purchase mine new from the manufacturer, and I still have the original instructions dating back to the late 1980s.
I will post photos of each page of instructions for those that may like them. I am also happy to answer questions and offer what help I am able, just email me via the contact form.
The instructions attached are detailed for putting the loom together ‘from factory settings’, so to speak. I would expect secondhand looms to be in bigger parts with the detailed pieces already set up (for example, the side frames). In terms of putting the loom together, my high level instructions are:
1. Have someone hold the two side frames in the upright position.
2. Insert the front beam between the side frames.
3. Insert the bottom cross beam that has the upright part where the peddles will sit.
4. Insert the other cross beams (should all be interchangeable).
5. Lift in the 'guts' (all the lams, which are hopefully still connected to one another) of the loom which should sit into the top cross beams.
6. Back beam and seat can be attached last, when ready.
7. The hanging lams, 2 sets, will need to be threaded onto aluminium bar that sit in the left hand side of loom frame (on my loom).
